In this series of Water Cooler Neuroscience, sponsored by the Biochemical Society in the UK, we are talking with Dario Alessi on the ways that Parkinson’s can be understood. There are many shows out there that talk about the experience of having Parkinson’s or how replacing dopamine in the brain alleviate the symptoms but this time we are talking about how the cells themselves malfunction. We understand how the cells begin to malfunction and what we can do that could help future patients by looking at the genetics and more importantly proteins that are at the heart of the disease.
